Greater Topeka Fund

The Greater Topeka Fund is a grant program to support nonprofit organizations serving Topeka and Shawnee County. Established to enhance the quality of life in the region, this grant focuses on funding specific programs and projects that address community needs and enhance quality of life in our area.  In 2024, we awarded more than $120,000 from this grant fund to local nonprofits.

Grants will be awarded up to $10,000 dollars and the focus is the nonprofit's work contributing to a socially and economically prosperous Shawnee County and does it address a clear and compelling need/opportunity.

Only completed and qualifying applications will have the potential to be shared with Topeka Community Foundation donors and then onto the committee to review.

Better Together

The Topeka Community Foundation’s Better Together grants program, part of the Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life in Shawnee County, awarded over half a million dollars in 2024 to local nonprofit organizations. These grants are focused on supporting new and inventive ways to address the social determinants of health—critical factors like access to affordable housing, education, nutritious food, healthcare services, mental health support, and a safe environment, all of which affect an individual’s ability to live a healthy life. By funding creative and impactful solutions, the Better Together grants aim to drive lasting change and improve community well-being.

Better Together is dedicated to empowering organizations that offer fresh approaches to solving real community problems. Whether your project seeks to improve healthcare access, tackle housing challenges, or expand educational opportunities, the Better Together grants can help transform your innovative ideas into action.

The Topeka Community Foundation encourages organizations to connect with our Director of Strategic Initiatives, Alicia VanWalleghem,  to discuss your organizations idea. Grants will be customized to align with the specific needs and scope of each initiative, with the Topeka Community Foundation eager to support bold and effective solutions.

Only completed and qualifying applications will be considered by the grants committee, with potential for additional support from other Topeka Community Foundation donors.
