American Cancer Society

Grant funding will help to provide personal protective equipment for approximately 80 Shawnee County cancer patients and their caregivers who need to spend the night at the Kansas City Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge provides free lodging while cancer patients undergo lifesaving treatments.

Brewster Place Foundation

Grant funding will help to provide isolation gowns for the safety of their staff, as well as to protect Brewster’s residents.

The Bridge of Topeka
Lunch Buddies is a one-on-one school mentoring program which has been adapted to an online format with the current stay at home orders. The grant will provide funding for equipment upgrades to allow mentors and their students to connect.

Capper Foundation
This grant will pay for personal protective equipment for Capper Direct Support Professionals who are working in the homes of their adult day services clients. These staff members assist with daily tasks such as dressing, bathing, cooking and cleaning.

Catholic Charities, Inc.
Grant funding will support the purchase of food for the organization’s food pantry, as well as client assistance with utilities and rent.

Additional grant funding has also been awarded for food and prescription assistance.

City of Topeka

This grant was awarded in support of Operation Food Secure, which is estimated to provide a box of food each week to over 25,000 households in our community.

Communities in Schools

Grant funding will provide Communities in Schools with direct emergency aid assistance to fill gaps in essential services including: personal protective equipment, items not covered by SNAP benefits, supplemental meal supplies, phone cards and utility assistance.

Community Action
Capitol Federal has generously allowed Community Action to use the vacant building at 2915 SW Wanamaker to allow their agency, and other partnering agencies to continue providing essential supports to low-income families and community members affected by the COVID19 outbreak. The four drive up windows and fully enclosed glass foyer helps to minimizing actual person to person contact, but still allows face to face contact. This grant is helping to pay for some of the technology, supplies and equipment to make the space safe and fully functional.

An additional Live Work Give grant has been awarded to provide 15,000 diapers for children in households not currently receiving diaper assistance.

Community Solutions, Inc.

Community Solutions provides Multisystemic Therapy for youth in our community. MST is an intensive, home-based model with the goals of improving family relations and functioning, keeping youth at home, in school and out of trouble, and decreasing adolescent psychiatric symptoms and/or substance use for youth who are at risk of out of home placement. Grant funding will help families meet basic needs including food, cleaning supplies, shelter and utilities.

Doorstep, Inc.
Funds will help to alleviate some of the increasing need for rent and utilities assistance for community members who are experiencing hardships as a result of the COVID19 crisis.

Fellowship & Faith Ministry, Inc.
Grant funding will support food purchases for the organization’s food pantry.

Friends of Recovery

With the Live Work Grant, Friends of Recovery will be able to provide stable housing for thirty-five Topeka Oxford House members who do not qualify for unemployment assistance.

Gil Carter Initiative, Inc.
The grant will support the purchase of supplies to make masks for community members.

Health Source Integrated Solutions

Grant funding supported the creation of a “Reverse” Warm Line at the end of the calendar year. This line, created in partnership with Valeo and United Way, allows volunteers to call isolated individuals in our community as a way of checking in.

I Care Food Pantry
Grant funding helps to provide food and hygiene items for the I Care pantry.

In order to safely distribute food to community members in the long term, I Care needed to make some alterations to their process. An additional grant was awarded to help offset the cost of a tent shelter, door coverings, cleaning supplies, etc.

Junior League of Topeka
The Live Work Give grant will provide 1,000 packs of personal sanitary items for women throughout the community.

Kansas Children’s Service League

Funds will be used to alleviate the overwhelming need for basic necessities for 300 families actively participating in KCSL programs.

An additional grant was awarded to offset the cost of PPE equipment, including masks, thermometers and cleaning supplies for KCSL families and staff working with families.

Let's Help
The grant provided funding for sack lunch bags, sandwich bags, food, and other supplies to provide community sack lunches.

Lifeline Children Services

Grant funding will help to provide approximately 150 mothers with formula for 6-8 weeks.

LINK Partnership
The LINK Partnership is a team of local organizations assisting low-income uninsured residents of Shawnee County referred to HealthAccess by Stormont Vail Health. Partners include HealthAccess, Stormont Vail Health, Valeo Behavioral Health Care, Harvesters, and Washburn University School of Nursing. Specifically, this grant will help LINK patients with prescription assistance, hygiene items, paper products, cleaning products, over the counter medications, etc.

Marian Clinic
The grant will assist the Marian Dental Clinic with equipment and technology to establish a dental triage process to help determine the level and severity of individuals with dental pain, with the goal of alleviating some of the burden of urgent dental issues in emergency rooms.

An additional grant has been awarded to offset the cost of personal protective equipment & supplies for staff, including gowns, gloves, masks, foot booties, face shields, caps, & disinfectant cleaner.

Midland Care Connection, Inc.
Midland Care will use the funds to provide shelf-stable meals for the elderly in their care through the PACE (Program of All Exclusive Care for the Elderly) and Meals on Wheels programs. This grant provides 5 days of meals for 250 individuals.

Mirror Work for Success
Funding to Mirror Work for Success is assisting their Oxford House clients maintain their housing if they are laid off due to COVID19.

An additional grant was made to the organization to support rent assistance for individuals who have been laid off from their jobs and are currently looking for work, or are in danger of losing their housing before their first paycheck.

Positive Connections

Grant funding will provide emergency client assistance for rent, utilities, food, etc.

Project Topeka Community Food Drive
This grant will help to purchase food for "Fun Food Fridays", a program that provides 700 food bags each week to two elementary schools.

Revelations Evangelistic Ministry, Inc.
Grant will provide approximately 3 months of funding for the organization’s meal program serving 400 children, youth and adults.

Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House is temporarily not accepting volunteer provided meals for their guests, so the grant helps with the purchase of groceries for the staff to prepare hot, fresh meals each evening, as well as fresh dairy products, produce and bread to have on hand.

Currently, Ronald McDonald House is unable to accept any new families due to COVID-19 restrictions, so an additional grant was awarded to assist with temporary lodging for referred families.

SLI, Inc.
With grant funding, SLI will be able upgrade their current supply of oral thermometers to thermal thermometers as the best solution for monitoring the health of their clients and staff members.

Stormont Vail Foundation
The Live Work Give grant will provide 15 cases (7,750 masks) of surgical face masks for the Stormont Vail Health teams.

Sunshine Connection of Topeka

Shelter at home orders have limited Sunshine Connection members’ access to food and other supplies. Funding for food, masks and no touch thermometers was awarded.

TARC, Inc.
Funding will help to provide personal protective equipment for staff and supported individuals, as well as cleaning supplies.

TDC Learning Centers
The grant will help TDC Learning Centers to provide one week of child care to first responder families in April and May.

TFI Family Services

Grant funding will help to supply Calm Kits for foster children. These kits are specialized for the needs of each child, and is kept in their home environment to assist them when their anxiety is triggered.

Topeka Doula Project
With social distancing guidelines, and stay at home orders in place, expectant mothers will have the opportunity to attend online Childbirth & Breastfeeding Education classes. A virtual support community will also provide support and connection with other mothers and childbirth professionals.

An additional grant was made to the organization to be used as scholarship funding for qualifying expectant mothers to attend the virtual Childbirth & Breastfeeding Education classes.

Topeka Independent Living
The grant will help to fund Shelter in Place kits for people with disabilities. Kits include diabetic crash kits; bowel, bladder & ostomy supplies; wound care kits, etc.

Topeka Presbyterian Manor
Grant funding will assist with the purchase of Personal Protection Equipment and supplies for sanitizing.

Topeka Rescue Mission
Fund will purchase over the counter and prescription medications as well as other medical supplies necessary for their volunteer medical professionals to assess TRM guests’ medical needs.

Topeka Salvation Army
Grant assisted with the purchase of meat, cheese, fresh fruit for community sack lunches.

Topeka Youth Project

Grant funding will provide the technology needed to transition to and host the organization’s 36 hour virtual job training for youth.

Valeo Behavioral Health Care
Valeo, in partnership with the Shawnee County Health Agency and Family Service & Guidance Center, is establishing a COVID19 Topeka Warm Line. The Warm Line will serve the entire community of individuals who may be experiencing the stress and loneliness of social distancing, work interruption, and uncertainly caused by the current restrictions and concerns associated with COVID19.

YWCA of Northeast Kansas
Food and transportation costs to support Center for Safety and Empowerment shelter residents and clients.

An additional grant was awarded to provide funding for 50 bed nights of CSE client temporary housing.
