Director of Philanthropy

Position Summary:

The Director of Philanthropy cultivates and delivers exceptional service to donors and prospective donors – providing seamless services to fund representatives. The director also supports the implementation of strategic goals focusing on Foundation growth and community impact. This is an in-person position and successful candidates will live in Topeka/Shawnee County. This position reports to the Topeka Community Foundation President.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors and fund representatives, including resolution of concerns

  • Prioritize working with professional advisors to increase quantity and quality of donor referrals

  • Execute strategies to increase value in being a Topeka Community Foundation donor

  • Assist donors with charitable estate planning

  • Prepare correspondence as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Track record of establishing relationships based on trust and personal connections with a diverse spectrum of donors, professional advisors, community leaders and nonprofit representatives

  • Excellent presentation skills – including public speaking, written communications and use of electronic media

  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload

  • Skill and proficiency in database management

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in nonprofit/foundation fund development work
